Whether they were originally composed for this purpose or later given them this purpose is unknown. Psalms 120-134 are the Pilgrim Songs, sung by those making the climb to Jerusalem to celebrate one of the annual Festivals. They might have been sung by the priests as they ascended the temple steps. They continue to be sung in Jewish and Christian services. Perhaps it’s time for a good look at them.
