Advent is the season for getting ready to welcome what no amount of preparation can make understandable: God-With-Us come as a baby. But get ready we do, with ancient readings and candles, with prayers and gatherings, with songs and images. None of it will ever grant full comprehension, but such enlightenment isn’t their concern. Their role is much simpler, and much holier: shedding enough light to keep our feet on the road to Bethlehem.
Every day of Advent, the daily Bible readings will be offered; with them come words, prayers, images – offerings from many different people. These are luminaries, lighting the way to the manger and the Christ Child. Come, let’s walk together.
